Car Parking

CAR PARKING

Public parking at Bovisand Park Private Estate is a Pay and Display system run by Premier Parking Solutions (PPS) who have control of the toll system and the issue/collection of any subsequent fines. The terms they operate under are listed on their signboards around the estate.

There is an Automatic Number Plate Registration (ANPR) system in operation at the entrance to the Park and all visitors should ensure they have paid and displayed, unless they are using RingGo when display is not necessary.

When using Ringo please make sure you use the correct Ringo Code for Bovisand Park Estate: Bovisand Car Parks 16091. There have been instances of people selecting Bovisand Beach Car Park (16093), which is on the other side of the valley, and have subsequently incurred a fine.

Make sure that the correct registration number of your vehicle is used; a lot of the parking offences recorded at the park are due to people entering the wrong registration number, usually their other cars. If a pay and display machine is out of order use another one, there are four on the site.

All parking bays with Numbers on the ground are for the exclusive use of chalet residents and illegal parking in these may result in a £100 fine.

Please park sensibly in any of the following places:

The main car park in any of the spaces without numbers painted on the ground.

On the grass at the cliff side of the road at the top of the hill.

On the unfenced green at the far end of the park known as West point.

There is a limit of 5 metres on the length of a vehicle and a maximum weight of 3500 kilograms.

The reasons for these restrictions are:

a.         To protect the roadway and cliffs which in some areas are very close to the road behind the bushes. It should be noted that a bumping vehicle doubles its effective weight on impact, so lorries bouncing off the chicane are a potential danger to the cliff.

b.         The water main serving Chalets 1 to 35 and the Shop/cafe etc. runs under the road along with sewage pipes and drains. They were installed many years ago when it was never expected that the weight of vehicles (nor the volume of fluids flowing through pipes) would be at today’s levels.

Non-resident’s vehicles are not permitted to stay on the estate overnight and staying in vehicles or camping overnight is not allowed at any time of the year.

Car parking can be problematic at busy times and your cooperation in parking sensibly in order to maximise the available space would be greatly appreciated, particularly on the grass areas.

The profit from Car Parking fees is vitally important for the maintenance of Bovisand Park, in particular the preservation of public spaces and cliffs for the benefit of everyone.

Vehicle owners must adhere to the strict parking rules shown on the PPS signs and vehicles must leave the site before the closed times stated on the Gates Closed signs throughout the estate.

It should be noted that the ANPR cameras are also intended to detect and deter criminal activity.
